ACTIS Computer is working hard on adapting its board range to the specifications of the RoHS Directive. Even if then main part of its products where developped within the last 18 months, it remains a significant task.

Its whole range will be fully compatible to the directive for all deliveries starting January 1st, 2006.

Some new products, i.e. the new PowerQUICC III SBC VSBX-6560 and PowerPC SBC VSBC-6847 are already produced according to the new directive and are available as RoHS compliant.

ACTIS Computer introduces an PMC ISOLATED RS-485/422 OCTAL UART PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC).

PSCC–1008E is an octal isolated asynchronous serial communication controller based on a PMC form factor.

The PSCC-1008E module is compatible with the PCI specification 2.2 and run on 32-bit bus size at 33 MHz frequency. With its 3.3V & 5V environment. Data transfers operation can be formatted in 8-bit, 16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit wide.

The PSCC-1008E provides 8 enhanced 16550 UARTs with the PCI Bus interface. Half and full duplex mode are supported.

Each UART has its own 64 Byte of transmit and receive FIFO, a set of 16550 compatible control and status registers, and a baud rate generator for individual channel data rate setting.

Each channel is 2.5 KV isolated. Isolators used provide performance superior to alternatives such as optocoupler devices.

All channels are on front panel (SCSI 68-pin connector) and on rear I/O connector (P4) (customer request). The rear I/O connector can be use if the host card is designed for isolated signals.

RS-485 interface is selected under software control. The PSCC-1008E can run on major real-time operating systems and with the open-source Linux™ or VxWorks operating systems.
